MP3 for Everyone
Purpose of this site
The purpose of this site is to provide easy access to literature to
people with visual impairment, however everyone is welcome to use the
site. It is a non profit venture, so it depends on people to
contribute reading time.

Contribute
If you want to contribute any more books to this
site, send the sound file to
us.
We will add it as soon as possible.
At this point we can only accept Books that are out of Copyright,
which means that that the author died more than 100 years ago. We are
checking the possibilities of including contemporary literature as
well. This is possible with the written permission of the author.
As soon as we have some content, we will also look at ways of
streaming content (with something like real player or the like). If
you have any Ideas or experience, please let us know. (Real Player has
a Demo version of their streaming software, but it is very limited).
Also, maybe we could tape performances of Artists and put them here,
if the Artists would agree. A good start may be blindekuh, a Restaurant
Bar and Culture Center in Zurich, Switzerland that is completely dark
inside and run by people with visual impairment.
FAQ
Why don't you synthesize the Books?
The Synthesized Books will not be as good as the really read
books. The Computer does not understand what story is being told, so
it can not give any clues with its voice, where a Human can. If you
want to synthesize books to be read to you, you can do so yourself
(synthesis sites can be found somewhere, we should add them here
soon. Maybe there is a DMOZ
category for speech synthesis?)
